Wireless internet is one of the most innovative internet features that has been release in the past few years. It is useful, efficient, and solves many problems that phone-line internet or broadband creates. However, like with all pieces of technology, it has its problems with set-up and instillation. For set up, the process is rather simple. It can be described in several short, easy steps. The first step is, obviously, to choose the equipment that you desire to use for your router. Routers come in many brands and makes. Different routers have different ranges of use; some can reach a large radius while others are stronger in a smaller radius. This step simply depends on the range of which you need the internet to reach. If only a small area needs to be powered, a smaller router is all that you need. The chief problem here is to make sure you purchase a router and not a wireless access point which will not independently power the internet. The next step is to hook up the router. The router can plug directly into the computer modem, or, for the sake of laptops or other like situations, it can be plugged into an internet line or a phone line in your home. The next step is to configure the router to your preference and personal use. This is the part which usually gives computer users the most trouble. In some cases, electric companies or internet provider companies will configure these for no charge. However, to avoid any pesky fees it is a better idea to configure it yourself, if possible. Once the network cable is connected to the internet providing point in your home, you should temporarily be connected to the internet to configure your wireless settings. If not, try restarting the computer. Once on the internet, it will ask for a default password that comes with the router. Then you are prompted to name your network as well as create a password for access to your router. This prevents unwanted piggybacks for those wanting free internet. After you follow these steps, you should be prompted to save your settings and then apply the settings. This should allow you access to your wireless internet. The only step now is to configure any and all computers to this wireless network using the password and network name that you just created. Wireless internet is useful and an easy way to get on the internet wherever you are in your home. Not to mention it is easy to set up.
